Debating National Finals

We are absolutely thrilled to announce that the Saracens Broadfields Debate Club has qualified for the grand finals of the national Cicero Cup. Following a hard-fought semi-final, our team has officially placed in the top eight schools in the UK.

This is a monumental achievement for a club that only began in October 2024. After entering their first competition in January 2025, our pupils have shown incredible growth. They recently placed second at the Barnet Debate Day Challenge at Middlesex University, and reaching the national finals is a particularly proud moment as they will compete against some of the most prestigious private schools in the country.

Literacy and oracy are central to the curriculum at all Saracens Multi-Academy Trust schools. Developing these skills early ensures that students in the sixth form at Saracens High School possess the confidence required for elite university interviews. A wonderful example of this is Harroon and Negareen, who have both just received offers to study medicine at King’s College London and St Mary’s University.

We know that our values of discipline, hard work, honesty, and humility will serve our Saracens Broadfields debaters well as they prepare for the finals in June. Go Sarries!
